Get Ready: Start by being clean both physically and spiritually. Purify yourself by performing Wudu, or ablution.
Face the Qibla: In order for your prayer to be accepted, you must face the Kaaba in Mecca.
Niyyah, or intention: Set your heart’s desire for the particular prayer you are going to offer.
Start with Takbir: To begin the prayer, raise your hands and utter the words “Allahu Akbar” (God is the Greatest).
Recite Surah Al-Fatiha: Recite Surah Al-Fatiha first, then another Surah or a passage from the Quran.
Execute the Ruku: Say “Subhana Rabbiyal Adheem” (Glory is to my Lord, the Most Great) while bowing with your back straight.
Straighten Up: Return to a standing position and give thanks to Allah.
Proceed to Sujud: Say “Subhana Rabbiyal A’la” (Glory is to my Lord, the Most High) while prostrating with your forehead, nose, palms, knees, and toes on the ground.
Sit in Tashahhud: Recite the Tashahhud and Salat Alan-Nabi (blessings on the Prophet) after the second Sujud.
Finish with Tasleem: Say “Assalamu Alaikum wa Rahmatullah” (Peace and mercy of Allah be upon you) as you turn your head to the right and then to the left to conclude your prayer.
